Below, the dentist provides information on some of our patients' most frequently asked questions regarding LUMINEERS® and CEREC. Contact our Bismarck dental practice today if you have additional questions that aren't discussed below or are interested in scheduling a consultation.
What are LUMINEERS®?
LUMINEERS® are one of two main brands of porcelain veneers. Unlike da Vinci Veneers™, their placement does not call for the removal of tooth enamel. Their extra-tough, ultra-thin characteristics and placement method make them reversible, so you can reserve the option to remove them in the future. However, our dentist believes that LUMINEERS® jeopardize the artistry aspect of the remodeled teeth. These veneers may make your teeth appear larger and less natural.
What is CEREC?
CEREC, or Ceramic Reconstruction, refers to a dental restoration product that is fashioned using computer-assisted technology as well as different types of ceramic material. As opposed to traditional dental crowns and da Vinci Porcelain Veneers™, CEREC treatment may be completed in one visit. . That being said, it is more difficult to match the subtle color qualities of the natural teeth with the CEREC system, since this type of restoration is made from a single block of ceramic. Strength, fit and quality may also be compromised.
What are alternatives to LUMINEERS® and CEREC?
Da Vinci Porcelain Veneers™ and Porcelain Dental Crowns: As an expert cosmetic dentist with decades of experience at the forefront of smile design, Dr. Heringer prefers these proven treatments to LUMINEERS® and CEREC, and proudly offers them at our Bismarck practice. While da Vinci Veneers™ and traditional porcelain crowns require more expertise and investment to craft and place, the greater skill they demand is precisely what our dentist values. These options are most ideal for creating a brilliant, natural-looking smile. So we strongly advise anyone considering porcelain veneers and porcelain crowns to pursue them through only the most qualified dentist.
