DR. EVERETT HERINGER: There are a host of things that we do in our office to make our patients very comfortable. For the very first phone call to our office is greeted with a warm, friendly voice and basically a smile on the other end. When it comes to insurance issues, we're insurance advocates for our patients.
When it comes to them actually meeting us in our practice, they're greeted with a warm welcome hello and a handshake. We bring them back to our treatment room for treatment, we offer them a number of things in our treatment room. We offer them a comfortable down blanket, we offer them headsets. They can even listen to the television, they can view T.V. or they can listen to the radio. They can listen to their choice of music, a CD. So we offer a number of distractions for them to make their visit even more comfortable.
We also offer them nitrous oxide, which is a relative analgesia it's called but it just kind of relaxes the patient. So all of that coupled with just a very friendly staff, a friendly smile and also with our technology.
The one thing is the x-rays. The digital x-rays take minimal to no radiation. They're instant. The patients notice that. They're environmentally friendly; we aren't dumping chemicals into the system 'cause we don't have to do that anymore. So the digital x-rays are just another great thing that we offer the patients. They notice it. Without the laser and laser dentistry, that is a very comfortable method for me to deliver a lot of modalities in our practice, whether it's from again the gum lifts or gum procedures to crown lifting or even crown preparations with the laser and without anesthesia.
So my goal is to make the visit as comfortable as possible. My goal is to use less anesthesia and more comfort. If we need to get the patient numb we will, but if not, In all the years that I've been practicing laser dentistry I've used a lot less anesthesia on our patients and they do take note. And that is, for me, the most important thing to the patients. And when they're done, we'll give them comfort medication. We'll walk them out; escort them out.
Oft times I'll call them in the evening to see how they're doing. Has the anesthetic wore off? How does the crown feel? How's the filling doing? How's the laser services been doing? Having questions so that's another thing that just kind of finalizes our total experience in the dental office for our patients.
