At the dental practice of Everett E. Heringer, D.D.S., we always say that smiles are works of art; lips are the frame, gums are the matting, and teeth are the painting that invokes a lasting impression. Our dentist, with the assistance of the Waterlase® laser, will shape your gums with careful attention to your smile characteristics and facial features, in an effort to beautifully flatter your overall look.
The team at Heringer Dentistry LLC hopes you will consider the advanced type of gum recontouring we offer in Bismarck!

Laser gum recontouring is an amazing treatment that can improve the look of a patient's smile in just minutes. Dr. Everett Heringer offers laser gum reshaping to help patients' teeth look more symmetrical, full, and beautiful. Because we use laser dental technology, treatments are performed quickly and painlessly.
The Laser Gum Recontouring Procedure
Also referred to as gum lifting or gum sculpting, laser gum recontouring is a wonderfully effective treatment, as recontoured gums can be a remarkably subtle yet significant compliment to your smile. With gum recontouring, a lost or "gummy" grin will be no more! Consequently, Dr. Heringer believes this laser dentistry treatment is the underestimated key to cosmetic dentistry.
Our gum recontouring procedure employs the use of the Waterlase® laser. Dr. Heringer will begin by gently removing any excess gum tissue. Once the treatment area has been prepared, he will proceed to sculpt your gum line, paying close attention to your aesthetic goals. The Waterlase® laser uses high pressure water spray and gently ablates away excess tissue, resulting in less bleeding and a greatly reduced risk of infection. The entire gum recontouring procedure can often be done without numbing and in a single visit to our Bismarck facility.
During advanced procedures, a local anesthetic may be used to numb the mouth for your maximum ease and comfort. Whereas former gum lifts involved the painful use of a scalpel to scrape and cut tissue, laser gum recontouring has a quicker healing time and far less side effects.
Following the appointment, gums may be tender and slightly swollen for a few days. Discomfort should be minimal, and the recovery process will not interfere with routine functions of the mouth, such as talking, chewing, or sipping.
